Jun-Yuan 'Jay' Chen

I am a sixth-year Economics Ph.D. candidate at Indiana University Bloomington, where I study applied microeconomics with a focus on causal inference, experimental methods, and game theory. My dissertation examines peer effects in addictive consumption and how misinformation spreads within groups, combining structural modeling with data from digital platforms and human-subject experiments.

Alongside my academic work, I have spent two summers at Amazon as an economist intern, where I applied causal inference and machine learning techniques to large-scale problems in delivery-speed experimentation and validation. My background spans both applied and experimental economics, and I bring that quantitative training to my research and to the courses I teach at Indiana University.

I am expecting to complete my Ph.D. in May 2027 and am interested in opportunities in industry as well as academia. I am a U.S. citizen.
